Preparing for our BSO trip

Last week, Livvy and I went along to the training session in Exeter run by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra which would prepare us for teaching the 300 children (plus adults) the essential components making up the two pieces by composer James Redwood. On 16th March we will be performing alongside the orchestra at The Great Hall, Exeter University.

The workshop was really enjoyable and accessible for musicians and non-musicians alike. The BSO have a large outreach programme for schools and put a lot of time into the local and wider communities.

As well as the two pieces (a song encorporating Makaton and a body percussion piece with Morse Code embedded), we will also be utilising their wider curriculum resources which will enable the children to better understand the workings of a symphony orchestra.
